PRIVACY STATEMENT HEIFER THE NETHERLANDS

The Heifer Netherlands Foundation (Heifer) processes personal data and uses cookies. We would like to tell you what personal data is processed for, how you can exercise your privacy rights and other information that may be of interest to you.

This Privacy Statement applies to all activities (including the website) of Heifer. We provide the most relevant information for each topic.

Our donors are worth a lot to us, Heifer therefore handles personal data carefully and acts within the boundaries of the law, including the Personal Data Protection Act (Wbp) and the General Data Protection Regulation (Avg).

Responsible
Heifer is responsible within the meaning of the Wbp and Avg.
We consider it essential that the personal data of our donors and website visitors is treated and secured with the utmost care. We are open about how your data is processed by us. That is why we explain this below. The main thing is that we comply in all cases with the requirements set by the Wbp. You can always request or change your personal data registered with us.

For what purposes do we process your personal data?
Heifer collects and processes personal data for clear and predetermined purposes, because this is necessary for, among other things:

  • entering into and executing donor and other agreements.
  • conducting the donor administration;
  • sending a newsletter and marketing purposes;
  • surveying donors and conducting research;
  • registering your settings and preferences regarding the use of the website (via cookies);
  • entering into a partnership with third parties;
  • our business operations;
  • complying with a legal obligation;
  • archival purposes, where data is only used in legal proceedings or for historical, statistical or scientific purposes.

Heifer processes personal data via, among other things, the telephone, website and the online portal of Heifer. This is done on the basis of consent or because of Heifer’s legitimate interest. Apart from the aforementioned processing purposes, Heifer does not process your Personal Data without your prior consent.

 

What personal data do we collect?
Heifer collects different categories of personal data, these are:

  • Name and address details (name, address, place of residence);
  • Bank account number (IBAN);
  • Sex;
  • E-mail address;
  • Interaction data (for example, cookies or information received when you contact us. For example, a note of the conversation is stored).
  • Donations made to Heifer (amount, date)

Heifer collects (personal) data directly from you, but in some cases Heifer also receives personal data via third parties insofar as this is in accordance with the law.

Subscribing and unsubscribing to the newsletter
Heifer sends out a newsletter that informs donors, volunteers and other interested parties about our projects, activities and related matters. Your e-mail address will only be added to the list of subscribers with your explicit consent. Every newsletter contains a link with which you can unsubscribe. The subscriber base of the newsletter is not provided to third parties.

How do we ensure confidential handling of personal data?
Heifer treats your data confidentially. We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. Heifer only shares personal data in accordance with this Privacy Statement and only with third parties when this is permitted and done carefully.

On behalf of Heifer, business service providers (for example printing companies) can provide certain parts of the service for the implementation of an agreement. Heifer makes agreements with these processors to guarantee confidential and careful handling of personal data. These agreements are contractually laid down in so-called ‘processing agreements’.

Data sharing with third parties
Unless stated in this Privacy Statement, your personal data will not be rented, sold or otherwise shared with or provided to third parties. Heifer can share your (personal) data with third parties if you have given permission for this yourself.
Heifer provides personal data to enforcement authorities or anti-fraud organizations when this is necessary to comply with a legal obligation (claim).

Retention periods
Heifer stores your personal data in accordance with the Wbp/Avg. The data is not kept longer than is strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which the data was collected.

How can you view or delete your data?
You can send a request for inspection or correction to Heifer. Please indicate clearly that it concerns a request for inspection or correction on the basis of the AVG. You can also request to have your data deleted, but this is only possible insofar as Heifer can still comply with its legal obligations, such as the legal retention periods. Please note that providing a copy of an ID may be required to verify your identity. It is important that, if you provide a copy of your proof of identity, that you make the BSN, document identification number and the Machine-Readable Zone (MRZ) black (or otherwise illegible for Heifer).

Technical security
To optimally protect your personal data against unauthorized access or use, Heifer applies appropriate security technology. If you pass on data to us, this is always done via a secure connection. We always report (attempted) abuse. Heifer also takes organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access.

Click behavior
General visitor data is kept on our website, such as the most requested pages. The purpose of this general visitor data is to optimize the design of the website for you. Personal data from you will never be recorded via the internet without your explicit order, such as when requesting information.

Use of cookies
We use cookies on this website to make it easier for you to use the website. A cookie is a simple small file that is sent along with pages from this website and is stored by your browser on the hard drive of your computer. The information stored therein can be sent back to our servers on a subsequent visit.
